Activision and Bungie were divorced and the creator of Destiny was able to acquire property rights.
After nearly five years of partnership, the two companies announced their separation and that Bungie would continue to develop Destiny and would be solely responsible for its distribution and promotion.
To do so, Bungie had to pay more than $ 91 million to Activision, according to analyst Daniel Ahmand.
The analyst cites Activision’s latest financial report, where the company shares that it was able to fit this amount into its deposits because it was the price to be paid by Bungie to acquire the rights.
Bungie now owns and owns distribution rights and is solely responsible for its management.
Looks like Activision Blizzard recognised approx $164 million in revenue and operating income of $91 million last year as a result of terminating publishing rights for Destiny. pic.twitter.com/u28F37hRpj
